The Most Recent Public Meeting

PENNDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation), Maryland State Highway Administration (MDSHA, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) conducted a Public Meeting Open House for the US 219 Meyersdale to I-68 project. The meeting was held from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, November 9,2004 at the Comfort Inn (formerly Grantsville Inn), Grantsville, Maryland. Over 200 people from the project area attended.

The purpose of this meeting was to present updated project information including revised project alternatives, the introduction of a new alternative (Alternative AE) and the dismissal of Alternative A. In addition, the project team was working with the public to gain input and to identify areas of interest and public concern.

At the meeting Alternatives A, D, E and AE and their interchange locations were presented. Maps displaying the environmental resources including wetlands, streams, farms, homes and mining areas were presented. An environmental impact matrix and a pro/con chart was intended to help attendees understand the positive and negative aspects of each alternative. (Check out the Alternatives page to view the maps, matrix and chart) In addition, the air quality and noise analysis results were presented along with artist renderings of the proposed roadways at various locations throughout the study area.
