The Community Advisory Committee was organized to provide an additional forum for two-way communication between the project team and the community.
The CAC also serves as an advisory group to the project team. The primary goal of the CAC is to help all interested parties understand each others needs and concerns. The CAC Membership represents a balance of the interests of residents, local governments, business organizations, environmental concerns and other civic organizations in the project area. The CAC will continue to meet regularly the project.
Community Advisory Committee Meeting
No.4, June 2, 2004
Based on Resource Agency coordination and the continuation
of fieldwork, Alternatives A, D and E were refined, and Alternative
AE was developed. The purpose of this meeting was to present the
refinements and Alternative AE, and received input regarding this
information. During this meeting, comments were solicited and it
was determined that Alternative A would not be carried forward in
the DEIS, but Alternatives D, E and AE would be included in the
document. Members of the Project Team addressed questions and concerns
of the CAC members. CAC members were also asked to complete a comment
form, which prompted specific questions regarding the alternatives
to be carried forward for Detailed Analysis.
Community Advisory Committee meeting No. 3, October 30, 2003
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) reconvened on October 30, 2003 in Salisbury, Pa. The purpose of this meeting was to solicit input from the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) regarding the alternatives to be carried forward for Detailed Analysis and local access considerations. The Project Team presented information regarding the environmental features and design constraints of the preliminary alternatives. Project Team Members reinforced how complex the process is to design and select an alternative and that is why the CAC is so important. CAC input throughout preliminary engineering has helped move the project forward, saving time and money.
The Project Team Members announced that a Public Meeting would be held on November 6th. The arrangements and informational materials for the meeting were reviewed with the CAC. CAC Members were also asked to participate at the Public Meeting to discuss the CAC activities.
Community Advisory Committee meeting No. 2, June 2003
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) reconvened on June 19, 2003 in Salisbury, Pa. The purpose of this meeting was to present information to the CAC regarding preliminary alignment alternatives, and to solicit input from the CAC members.
Project Team members provided a detailed overview of each alignment. Following the presentation, CAC members reviewed mapping of each alignment and provided comments regarding a number of issues, including access, safety, resources, economic development and environmental concerns.
A presentation was conducted by members of the CAC to the entire group. These comments were recorded by the project team and were incorporated into the Environmental Impact Statement.
Community Advisory Committee meeting No. 1, January 2003
The Project Team convened the first meeting of a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) on January 16, 2003 in Salisbury, Pa. The committee members represent more than 20 segments of the community, including homeowners, business, the coal industry, trucking, environment, cultural resources, public officials, schools, and emergency services.
At the January meeting, the committee previewed the upgrade, corridors and preliminary access considerations. Members had an opportunity to share suggestions and ask questions.
